I look forward to driving across this great nation! One of my goals for this trip will be to sit down and talk with people along the way on different topics concerning the US. I want to discuss politics, history and religion.
I want to emphasize the historical richness that our young culture has and try to discover a common cultural bond that our people share in order to create, as our forefathers said, a more perfect union. We need a glue. The fabrics of the United States are strong but no matter how strong a fabric is it can be ripped if stressed enough. We need something that can bond without ever tearing. How have other cultures and societies survived for centuries? How did they begin? What is the reason for their longevity? I hope to analyze these questions and other.
I hope to create an understanding of the infancy that a 200 year old culture truly is; despite great economic, scientific, and intellectual maturity. Our cultural heritage is very immature and is still in a discovery and nurture state. I want our nation to be one that will survive it’s traditions for centuries to come, for Liberty, Justice, Truth to be passed on and cherished from generation to generation. This is the time now for us to declare our common traditions, for us to group together as Americas; not split over separatist issues.. We need to not only think of our ourselves in the present but also be thinking towards our future generations. How will our actions today effect them in 100 years..200 years. Will they be able to look back and see a rich, vibrant, strong nation full of traditions? Will they be able to Proudly say they are Americas. I believe that without that common bond we will lose sight of what this Country once stood for and should still stand for.
Through the trip I would also like to paint a much more vibrant picture of the American people. A people who, just like any other nation has it’s faults and downfalls which are all too commonly touted; but also a people of deep conviction for helping others, for creating a sense of security and peace. A people so generous that at a moments notice will drop millions of dollars and hundreds of man hours to go and help those in need. A people who love to have a good time, but who also have an incredible work ethic and love to get things done! A people who don’t give up because things get difficult. A people of deep understanding and of incredible variety.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
